How To Know If You’re Making The Right Choice
TODAY'S TEACHING
Great peace have they who love Your law. โPsalm 119:165
Iโve talked before about how can God sometimes guide us through circumstances, and thatโs true (sort of).
We need to be careful not to rely solely on circumstances when weโre trying to hear from God.
Itโs like trying to follow a road sign without paying attention to the map.
Circumstances can be a guide, but we must also check for peace and wisdom, which are powerful ways God speaks to us.
I remember a time when I was faced with a big decision about a job offer.
Everything seemed perfectโthe salary was great, the benefits were amazing, and the timing seemed right.
The circumstances were all aligned, and I was almost convinced that it was God's will for me.
But deep down, I didnโt feel peace.
I tried to push the uneasy feeling aside, thinking maybe I was just being too cautious.
After praying and seeking Godโs guidance, I realized I was relying too much on what looked good on paper instead of listening to the Holy Spirit.
I decided to walk away from the offer, and it wasnโt easy.
A few months later, a completely unexpected opportunity came my way, one that aligned so much better with my passions and calling.
I could clearly see now that God had been protecting me, leading me toward something far better.
Just because a door is open doesnโt mean itโs the one weโre supposed to walk through.
Please read that again.
Peace is the real sign on the inside that weโre headed in the right direction.
If weโre not feeling peace in our hearts, we need to slow down and check again.
Relying only on circumstances can easily lead us into trouble.
Remember, the enemy can arrange situations just as God can, because he has access to the natural world we live in.
So, if we only follow circumstances without considering peace and wisdom, we risk being deceived.
We can never go against Godโs Word, no matter how good a situation may look.
Peace and wisdom are the two keys that keep us steady.
Before we act, itโs so important to do a quick heart check to see if we have peace.
Thatโs the best way to make sure weโre really hearing from God.
The safest path is to combine the guidance of the Holy Spirit with the wisdom of the Bible.
When we use both, they work together like checks and balances.
And always remember to consider the whole counsel of Godโs Wordโnot just the parts we like, but the full truth.
I always suggest finding at least two or more scriptures rightly divided, and in context, to stand on when believing God for anything.
And, when making decisions, always follow peace.
Itโs your best sign that you're walking in the right direction.
It's how to be led by God when making decisions.
If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:
"Dear God, I know Youโre with me in every decision I face, and Iโm asking for Your peace to guide me. Help me not to rush ahead based on what looks good, but to listen closely to Your voice. When circumstances seem to line up, remind me to always check for Your peace in my heart, trusting that You know the way. Lead me with Your wisdom, and help me walk in step with Your will today. Amen."
God bless you!

TODAY'S QUESTIONS
1. How can we differentiate between circumstances that are from God and those that might be distractions from the enemy?
We can often tell the difference between God's guidance and a distraction from the enemy by checking for peace. When God opens a door, we feel a deep sense of peace even if the situation seems uncertain or challenging. On the other hand, when something is a distraction or a trap, thereโs usually a sense of unease or restlessness in our spirit. Itโs like walking into a room thatโs too quietโyou can feel somethingโs off, even if you canโt see it yet.
2. In what ways can we cultivate a deeper sense of peace to guide us when making decisions?
We cultivate peace by spending regular time with Godโin daily prayer, worship, and immersing ourselves in His Word. The more we know Godโs heart, the more weโll recognize His peace when it comes. Itโs like getting to know someone deeply; the more familiar their voice, the easier it is to recognize when they speak. Peace comes from trusting God completely, even when we donโt have all the answers, and letting go of the need to control.
3. How do we balance trusting God's peace with the natural circumstances we see around us?
Sometimes, the natural circumstances can look all wrong, but Godโs peace inside us tells us to move forward anyway. Trusting Godโs peace doesnโt mean ignoring whatโs going on around us. It means seeing the bigger picture. Itโs like driving through a storm with the windshield wipers goingโitโs still raining, but you trust the road ahead and keep going. We have to trust that God sees what we canโt and that His peace will guide us through the storm.
4. What practical steps can we take to ensure we're seeking God's wisdom in every decision we make?
The first step is always prayerโbefore making any decision, pause and ask God for wisdom. Then, take time to listen. This might mean waiting in silence, reading scripture, or seeking counsel from godly friends. Itโs like checking your map before taking a new route. You want to be sure of your direction before you start. And remember, Godโs wisdom often comes in quiet whispers and gentle nudges, so make sure youโre listening carefully.
5. How can we stay grounded in God's Word to avoid being misled by external circumstances?
We stay grounded in Godโs Word by daily feeding on it, letting it shape our thoughts and decisions. When we know the truth, we can spot the lies that try to pull us off course. Itโs like building a strong foundation for a houseโyou wonโt be swayed by the winds if your foundation is solid (Matthew 7:24-27). The more we know Godโs promises, the easier it is to recognize His voice and stand firm, no matter what circumstances we face.
