Why Ignoring Your Feelings Could Lead to Miracles
TODAY'S TEACHING
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
—Luke 5:5
God has blessings and new opportunities waiting for us, but to receive them, we have to listen for His voice.
Sometimes, it’s not enough just to hear.
We have to recognize what He’s saying and step forward in faith.
Often, that means doing things we don’t feel like doing or things that don’t make sense to us.
But here's the thing—God’s guidance must outweigh our feelings or logic.
I remember a time when I felt God nudging me to take a step I wasn’t sure about.
I had been working hard, and everything seemed to be at a standstill.
I was exhausted, frustrated, and honestly, I didn’t feel like taking another step.
But I felt God prompting me to move forward in faith, even when it didn’t make sense.
Just like Peter in today's scripture, I argued in my mind.
I questioned why it would work now when it hadn’t worked before.
But I obeyed.
I took that step, even though I didn’t feel up to it.
And you know what?
Just like with Peter, God opened the door I thought was closed.
What seemed impossible became possible, and what felt like wasted effort turned into something meaningful.
That’s how God works.
We may not think we’re capable, or we may feel exhausted, but when we obey His voice, He shows up in ways we didn’t expect.
Sometimes, ignoring our feelings can lead to miracles when God is leading us.
He’s got great things ahead, and we just need to be willing to listen, even when it’s hard.
God’s plans always exceed our own.
If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:
"Dear God, I know You have incredible blessings waiting for me, but sometimes, I don’t feel like taking that step of faith. It’s like standing at the edge of a cliff, unsure if I can fly, but I trust that You’ll catch me. Even when it doesn’t make sense or when I feel tired, help me to hear Your voice and obey. I choose to trust You, even when I don’t feel up to it, knowing that You’ve got something great ahead. Amen."
God bless you!

TODAY'S QUESTIONS
1. How can Christians recognize God's voice when He asks us to do something we don’t feel like doing or that doesn’t make sense?
We recognize God’s voice by staying close to Him through prayer, His Word, and quiet moments of reflection with the Holy Spirit. It’s like tuning into a radio station. At first, it may be hard to hear, but the more we listen, the clearer it gets. God speaks to us in different ways, sometimes through our hearts, Scripture, or even other people. When we sense Him leading us to something that doesn’t feel comfortable or logical, it’s a sign we need to trust Him more, not less.
2. What can we learn from Peter’s obedience in casting the nets again, even when he felt tired and discouraged?
Peter’s obedience shows us that sometimes, even when we’ve given our best effort and come up empty, God still has something greater in mind. It’s like being at the end of a long race, tired and ready to quit, but then finding the finish line just beyond what you can see. Peter’s willingness to try again, even when he was exhausted, teaches us that God’s timing and provision are never based on our own efforts. They’re based on His plan and His perfect timing.
3. How do we stay obedient to God’s instructions, even when we don’t fully understand His plan or timing?
God’s freedom can feel scary at first. We’re used to having all the answers laid out for us, but when God gives us freedom, it’s like He’s asking us to step out into the unknown. But in that freedom, we find trust. God isn’t setting us loose without guidance—He’s trusting that, as we grow in knowing His heart, we’ll make choices that honor Him. It’s like learning to ride a bike. At first, we might wobble, but the more we trust and lean into Him, the more confident we become in making decisions that reflect His will.
4. Why is it important for Christians to trust God’s guidance over our own feelings or logic, especially in challenging situations?
Our feelings and logic can be like a fog that clouds our vision, but God’s guidance is the clear sky we need to navigate through it. We often rely on our own understanding, thinking we have it all figured out, but God sees the entire map while we only see the next step. Trusting Him means we let go of trying to control the situation and let Him take the wheel, even if it feels uncomfortable or illogical. His wisdom far exceeds our own, and He’s always working for our good.
5. How can we as Believers strengthen our faith to obey God, even when we feel like giving up or think it won’t work?
Strengthening our faith starts with His Word and remembering God’s past faithfulness. When we reflect on what He has promised and the times He’s come through for us before, it helps us trust Him for the future. It’s like building muscles—you don’t get strong overnight, but by consistently exercising your faith, you grow stronger. We strengthen our faith by spending time in the scriptures and choosing to act on His promises, even when we don’t feel like it, knowing that every step of obedience builds our trust in Him.
