TODAY'S TEACHING

Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in your truth; direct and unite my heart (solely, reverently) to fear and honor Your name. —Psalm 86:11

If we just stop for a minute and listen to God's voice, if we choose to live His way and serve Him wholeheartedly, life doesn’t have to be an exhausting wrestling match.

Wisdom says, let God have His way with you.

Otherwise, you’ll end up walking in circles, stuck in the same rut, just like the Israelites going around that mountain in Deuteronomy 2:3.

I've met people who’ve been stuck dealing with the same problems for 20 or 30+ years.

They wrestle with the same obstacles because they didn’t obey God the first time He spoke.

If they had, they'd be further along by now—living in His purpose instead of walking through the same old desert.

No matter how comfortable we are, God isn’t going to let us get stuck in one spot.

He’s got new places to take us, new lessons to teach.

He wants us full of life, always growing, always stepping into His bigger plans for us.

I remember a time in my own life when I was stuck, circling the same mountain over and over again.

I kept wrestling with God about a decision He wanted me to make.

Deep down, I knew what He was asking of me, but I was afraid

I made every excuse I could think of, convincing myself I wasn’t ready.

But the truth

I just didn’t want to change.

I wasted years in that same place, struggling with the same old problems.

It was like I was living in a spiritual desert, just like the Israelites.

I prayed, but I didn’t obey

And I paid the price—stagnation

No growth, no forward movement.

It wasn’t until I finally surrendered, fully obeying what God was asking of me, that things started to shift

Doors I never thought possible began to open.

God’s plans for us are bigger than our comfort zones, but we’ve got to trust Him enough to step out.

When I stopped going in circles and obeyed, I discovered a new level of peace and purpose that I never imagined.

God was there all along, just waiting for me to say, “Yes, Lord.”

And He’s waiting for you, too.

Pray, obey, and don’t delay.

That's the key to breaking free from the cycle.

God’s been clear.

He’s calling out to us.

If we ignore Him, if we keep pushing His voice to the side, eventually we’ll come running to Him in a panic when trouble strikes, just like Proverbs 1:24-28 says.

God is patient, yes.

He’s merciful, no doubt.

But there comes a time when we need to wake up and obey.

The sooner we surrender, the sooner we can move forward into everything God has for us.

Pray, obey, and don’t delay because life’s too short to keep going around that mountain.

If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:

"Dear God, I’m tired of going around the same mountain over and over. I know You’ve got new places for me, and I’m ready to move forward. Help me to stop resisting, stop wrestling, and simply obey Your voice. Give me the courage to step out in faith, trusting that Your plans are far better than any comfort zone I’m stuck in. Amen."

God bless you!

TODAY'S QUESTIONS

1. How can we recognize when we're spiritually stuck, going around the same mountain in life, and what does God expect us to do about it?

When we're spiritually stuck, it often feels like we're just spinning our wheels—dealing with the same problems, the same frustrations, and never getting anywhere. It's like driving in circles, seeing the same scenery over and over again. That’s a sign we’re not moving forward in God’s plan. God expects us to stop, listen, and ask ourselves, “What am I not obeying? What have I been resisting?” He’s waiting for us to take that step of obedience so we can break the cycle and move forward.

2. What does it look like for us to fully obey God’s voice, and how does that obedience unlock new seasons of growth and purpose?

Obeying God isn’t about perfection. It’s about surrender. When we fully obey, it's like stepping out of a locked room and into the open air. Suddenly, there’s a fresh wind in our sails and new paths ahead of us. That obedience doesn’t just unlock doors. It opens up whole new seasons in our lives. It’s the difference between staying stuck in yesterday’s struggles and walking in today’s purpose.

3. Why is delayed obedience often more damaging than outright disobedience in our Christian walk?

Delayed obedience is tricky because it gives us the illusion of doing the right thing—eventually. But in reality, it’s like hitting the snooze button on God’s plan for our lives. Every time we delay, we’re holding ourselves back from the blessings He has for us. Delayed obedience keeps us stuck in neutral, while God is calling us to move forward.

4. How does the Lord use challenges and obstacles to shape and direct us when we're not listening or resisting His guidance?

The Lord will allow us to face the same challenges over and over until we learn the lesson He’s trying to teach us. It’s like going through the same test at school until we finally pass, or replaying the same level in a video game until we beat the "boss" and move to the next level. These obstacles are God’s way of getting our attention, nudging us to grow, and redirecting us toward His will. The sooner we stop resisting and start trusting Him, the faster we’ll move through the challenge and onto the next level.

5. What are practical steps we can take to ensure we’re walking in obedience to God’s will rather than remaining in cycles of spiritual stagnation?

First, we’ve gotta pray and ask God to show us where we’ve been resisting Him. Then, we need to listen—really listen—to what He’s telling us, through His Word, His Spirit, through others, or that still, small voice in our hearts. After that, it’s all about taking action. Obeying means taking the step even if we don’t have the whole picture. And finally, we stay sensitive to God’s leading, knowing that every small act of obedience moves us closer to His bigger plan.

Scripture Of The Week

Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.
