Your Faith is Nothing Without Jesus’ Resurrection—Here’s Why

TODAY'S TEACHING
But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
—1 Corinthians 15:13-14
Without the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, everything we believe would be like trying to run a race with no finish line—useless and exhausting.
In today's scripture, Paul says it would make everything we do vain.
I remember a time when it felt like everything I had built my life on was crumbling.
I was in a tough season, personal losses, challenges that seemed unending, and I felt like I was walking through life with no real purpose or hope.
I remember sitting on my couch one evening, just overwhelmed, thinking, "Why does it feel like I’m losing everything?"
In that quiet moment, I felt God’s Spirit remind me of one thing: without the Resurrection, all my faith, all my prayers, would be in vain.
It was like a light bulb went off in my heart.
Suddenly, I understood that Jesus rising from the dead isn't just some historical fact.
It’s the anchor that holds everything else together.
Just like a house without a solid foundation can’t stand, my faith, if not rooted in the Resurrection, would be as fragile as a house of cards.
The victory Jesus won over death is what gives my faith power.
It’s what makes it real.
Without it, there’s no point in believing.
Without it, there’s no real hope or purpose.
I remember praying through that doubt I just mentioned, asking God to help me understand how to keep going.
And in the middle of my questions, I realized that Jesus didn’t just rise from the dead for the past, He rose for me, for every moment I would face in my present and future.
Without His glorious Resurrection, I would have no reason to press on when life is hard, no strength to move forward.
But because of it, I have the courage to face tomorrow, knowing that no matter what happens, Jesus already overcame.
Jesus rising from the dead is what makes the difference between a faith that crumbles and a faith that stands tall, no matter the storm.
It’s not just a doctrine, it’s the life we live.
When we're weak, it’s the Resurrection that reminds us of God’s power.
When we're struggling, it’s the risen King that whispers, “You’re not alone. You can make it.”
So, if life doesn’t make sense, if everything around you feels uncertain, remember: Jesus is alive.
And because of that, your faith is alive.
His Resurrection is the cornerstone of everything we believe.
It’s what makes it all real.
And that, changes everything.
If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:
"Dear God, I know that without Jesus' Resurrection, my faith would be nothing more than empty words. He conquered death, and because of that, my faith stands strong... steady like a rock against the waves of life. If I start to feel lost or overwhelmed, remind me that His Resurrection is the heartbeat of my hope. Thank You for breathing life into my faith through Your Son, for giving me the courage to keep moving forward, no matter what comes my way. Amen."
God bless you!

DEVOTIONAL QUESTIONS
1. How does understanding the Resurrection of Jesus strengthen our Christian faith and give us hope during challenging times?
When we truly understand the Resurrection, it's like a sudden burst of light in a dark room. It brings hope in moments when we feel like we’re walking through the valley. No matter how deep the struggle or how heavy the burden, the Resurrection reminds us that nothing is impossible with God. It’s a constant reminder that if Jesus could conquer death, then there’s no hardship we can’t overcome with His strength.
2. In what ways can Believers recognize that without Jesus rising from the dead, our faith would lack purpose or power?
Without the Resurrection, our faith would be like a car without an engine, nice to look at, but it wouldn't take us anywhere. If Jesus hadn’t risen from the dead, we’d be left with an empty promise and a life full of questions, with no real hope. The Resurrection is what fuels our faith. It’s what gives us the power to keep going even when we don’t have all the answers. Without it, our belief in God would just be words, with nothing to back them up.
3. How can Christians apply the truth of Jesus' Resurrection to our daily lives and the way we face struggles?
Every time we feel overwhelmed, we can hold on to the truth that if Jesus could rise from the dead, He can handle whatever we're facing. His Resurrection isn’t just a story. It’s proof that no situation is too far gone for God. Whether we’re facing struggles with health, relationships, or just the daily grind, the Resurrection gives us the confidence to keep moving forward. It’s like having a safety net beneath us, reminding us that no matter what, God’s already won the victory for us.
4. What does the Resurrection teach us about God’s faithfulness and the promises He’s made to us?
The Resurrection is God’s way of showing us He keeps every promise He makes. When He said Jesus would rise again, He meant it, and that changes everything. It shows us that when God says He will never leave us, He truly won’t. The Resurrection is the ultimate proof of God’s faithfulness. It’s His guarantee that He’ll always come through for us, no matter how impossible the situation seems.
5. How does Jesus resurrected shape our understanding of eternal life and the victory a Christian has in Christ?
The Resurrection changes how we view life and death. It tells us death doesn’t have the final word. Jesus already defeated death, and that means we don’t have to fear what’s ahead. Eternal life isn’t just a future promise. It’s a present reality because of what Jesus did. The victory He won on the cross and through His Resurrection is ours, too. No matter what happens in this life, we know the end of the story: we have victory in Christ forever.

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
