Is God Testing You? Here’s the Amazing Reward for Obeying Him

TODAY'S TEACHING
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
—Romans 8:18
Looking at today's scripture, what does it really mean to share in Christ’s suffering?
It’s when your flesh wants to go one way, but the Holy Spirit nudges you in the other direction.
That pull can sometimes be strong, and let me tell you, it’s not easy.
But if we want to experience His glory, we first have to walk through His suffering.
I’ll never forget one moment that really put me to the test.
I was working on a project with a team, and it was honestly draining me.
Every conversation felt like a battle, and I was so tempted to just give in and let my frustration show.
My flesh was screaming, “You have every right to be angry!”
But then I felt that gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit, saying, “Just show grace.”
I won’t lie—it was a struggle.
I remember sitting in my car before a meeting, feeling like I was about to snap, and I prayed, “God, I don’t know if I can do this. I look to You for help.”
But I chose to obey.
And in that moment, I felt something shift.
It wasn’t just about the situation anymore.
It was about my heart choosing God’s way over my own.
And suddenly, I felt this incredible peace that I can’t explain.
That’s what it means to share in Christ’s suffering.
It’s not always about the big, dramatic moments of pain or struggle.
Sometimes, it’s just saying no to your flesh and yes to God, even when it hurts.
And over time, those choices—small but powerful—start to change you.
Romans 8:18 says it perfectly: “The suffering we go through now is nothing compared to the glory that will be revealed to us.”
I look back now, and I see how that tough season wasn’t wasted.
God worked in ways I didn’t expect, and the team ended up coming together in such a beautiful way.
So, whatever you're going through today (whatever is testing you) don’t give up.
It might feel like the weight of the world is on you, but trust me, God is using this moment to prepare you for something far greater.
There is an amazing reward that’s waiting for you on the other side is so much bigger than any pain.
Keep going, and watch how God moves in your life.
If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:
"Dear God, I come before You today, knowing that the road is tough but I am trusting that You’re walking beside me every step of the way. I feel the weight of the struggle, but I choose to follow Your lead, even when it hurts. Strengthen me so that I can obey You fully, no matter how hard it gets, knowing that the reward on the other side will be worth every tear. Help me to let go of my flesh and lean into Your Spirit, trusting that You’re preparing me for something far greater than I can see. Amen."
God bless you!

DEVOTIONAL QUESTIONS
1. How can Christians recognize when our flesh is resisting God's will, and how can we choose to obey His Spirit instead?
We’ve all felt that pull, right? The flesh screams one thing, but God whispers another. It’s like trying to walk down a path that keeps branching off in the wrong direction. But if we stop and pay attention to that little voice of God's Spirit, we can tell when we’re off course. And when we listen and choose to follow the Spirit, even when it’s hard, that’s when we start to see change and experience God's rewards for obedience.
2. In what areas of our lives do we feel the tension between our desires and God's call, and how can we surrender those areas to Him?
We all have those places where the struggle is real. Maybe it’s the job we think we want, or the relationship that feels so right, but something in our gut tells us God has something better. We’re holding onto what we think we need, but God’s calling us to trust Him. Surrendering isn’t easy, but it’s like unclenching our fists to let go of something good, so we can take hold of something great.
3. What can Christians learn from the struggles and suffering we face in following God, and how does it prepare us for greater glory?
I think about the times I’ve been in the fire and thought, “I’m never going to make it.” But somehow, when I look back, those were the moments that shaped me. It’s like lifting weights—the struggle makes us stronger. God’s glory doesn’t come without sacrifice, but it’s on the other side of that struggle that we see how worth it everything truly is.
4. How does choosing obedience in difficult times strengthen our relationship with God and help us experience His peace?
Obeying God when it’s hard is like trying to swim upstream. It’s tiring, it’s tough, but it draws us closer to Him in ways we wouldn’t expect. And somewhere in the struggle, we find a peace that doesn’t make sense. It’s that quiet assurance that He’s got us, even when everything around us feels chaotic. The peace He gives is like a shield, wrapping us in His presence.
5. What are some practical ways Believers can encourage each other in our Christian walk, especially when we are facing trials or suffering for His name?
We don’t walk this road alone. Sometimes, all someone needs is a prayer, a text, or a moment where we just sit with them in silence. Encouragement doesn’t always have to be words. It’s showing up, being present, and reminding each other that God is with us, even when it’s hard. Just walking alongside someone can make all the difference when the road gets rough.
