God Wants To Bless You, But Are You Stopping It?

TODAY'S TEACHING

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11

The Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts, nudging us when we're heading in the wrong direction.

I remember a time when I felt off-track.

I couldn’t sense God’s presence the way I used to.

It wasn’t a big thing, but something inside me felt disconnected

Then, the Holy Spirit quietly whispered, reminding me to stop and reset.

It wasn’t condemnation, but conviction.

A gentle tap on my heart, showing me where I’d veered off course.

That’s how God works, guiding us back by His Spirit, restoring the peace that we’ve lost when we stray.

It’s a lot like the time when my children were younger, and I had to take away their favorite toys because they weren’t listening

I didn't like it, but I knew I had to do it for their own safety

It wasn’t punishment.

It was genuine love.

I knew that if they didn’t learn to listen and follow the rules, they’d find themselves in bigger trouble later.

God’s the same way with us.

As today's scripture says in Psalm 84:11, God doesn't want to hold anything back from us.

The thing is, we need to be able to handle it.

He’s patient, but He also wants us to grow, to learn His ways so that we can handle all the good things He has in store for us.

When we ignore His voice and continue down our own path, we miss out on what He wants for us.

In essence, we delay, and in some cases, even stop His blessings.

I’ve had moments when I refused to listen, and sure enough, God withholds blessings, but not because He’s punishing me.

He’s preparing me.

He wants us to mature and grow into the person who can handle the blessings that are coming.

He's preparing us for what we're praying for.

There’s a lesson in every “no” and every “wait” from God, and it’s all because He’s building something beautiful in us.

I remember praying for a breakthrough, asking God to bring me something I thought I desperately needed.

But it wasn’t until I realized I hadn’t yet developed the character to handle that blessing that I understood why God hadn’t answered yet.

He didn’t withhold it out of spite.

He was waiting for me to grow.

If He gave me everything I asked for too soon, I’d have ruined it, or worse, lost it.

Think about it.

If God gave us Jesus, His most precious Gift, do you really think He’ll hold anything else back from us?

No way.

He’s ready to bless us, but we have to be ready too.

Decide today to trust God even more.

Trust that He’s working all things for your good, even when it feels like you’re being tested or disciplined

It’s His loving way of preparing you for the abundant life He’s promised.

If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:

"Dear God, I come to You today with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit that’s ready to receive. I know You want to bless me, but I also know I might be holding onto things that are blocking Your flow. Help me to clear out the clutter, the doubt, and the fears that stand between me and the abundant life You’ve promised. Open my eyes to see the places where I need to let go, and pour Your blessings over me like rain on dry ground. Amen."

God bless you!

TODAY'S QUESTIONS

1. Are we truly open to receiving God’s blessings, or are we unknowingly blocking them with our actions or attitudes?

Sometimes, we get so caught up in the busyness of life that we forget to ask ourselves this very question. We may be holding onto things like unforgiveness, bitterness, or fear. Things that act like walls around our hearts. God’s blessings can’t get through when we’ve built walls that keep them out. We need to check ourselves and ask, “Is my heart open, or have I closed the door?”

2. What areas of our lives might we need to surrender in order to experience the full outpouring of God’s favor?

We all have something we’re holding onto tightly. Whether it's a dream, a relationship, or even a fear we’re afraid to face. It’s like trying to hold an umbrella while God is trying to pour a rainstorm of blessings over us. We’ve got to let go of control, trust Him, and let the water flow freely without hesitation. When we surrender, God can work with what we’ve given Him, and the blessings flow like rivers.

3. How can we as Christians align our hearts with God’s will so that we’re positioned to receive His blessings?

As I mentioned above, it’s like tuning an instrument before a concert. If we’re out of tune with God’s will, nothing sounds right. Aligning ourselves with His purpose means we start by seeking Him, listening to His voice, and making the choice to follow His lead. It’s not about following our own map. It’s about trusting His GPS. The more we sync our hearts with His, the more His blessings fall into place.

4. In what ways can Believers actively thank God for the blessings He has already given us, even when we may not see them yet?

Thankfulness is like the fertilizer that helps our faith grow strong. Even when we can’t see the harvest, we thank God for it like it’s already on the way. We praise Him for what He’s done and trust that what’s unseen is just as real as what we can see. It’s the confidence that God is working even when our eyes can’t yet prove it, knowing that His blessings are already on their way.

5. Are we trusting God’s timing and process, or are we trying to control the flow of blessings in our own way?

Let’s face it, we’re all guilty of wanting to rush things. We get impatient, and sometimes, we try to push God’s hand, thinking we know better. But God’s timing is perfect. It's like a slow cooker meal that’s better when it’s done right. We need to trust that He knows exactly when and how to bless us, and in His timing, it will be more than we could ever ask or imagine.
