This Simple 2025 Habit Will Bring You Closer to God
TODAY'S TEACHING
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. —Psalm 55:17
Building a friendship with God in 2025 is a lot like developing a relationship with a close friend here on earth.
It doesn’t happen overnight.
It takes time.
It's that simple.
The truth is, you can grow as close to God as you choose, depending on how much time and energy you’re willing to invest in that relationship.
Just like any other friendship, the more time you spend, the deeper the connection becomes.
I remember when I first started setting aside regular time to pray and read the Bible.
At first, it felt awkward—like I was talking to the air.
But as I made it a habit, something shifted.
God started to feel more real to me, and I began experiencing His faithfulness in a way I had never known.
The more I showed up, the more He showed up in my life.
The incredible thing about building a friendship with God is that He’s perfect.
We can trust Him in a way we can’t always trust people.
He never lets us down.
There’s no fear of betrayal or disappointment because He’s always there—loving, forgiving, and faithful.
In 2025, make it a priority to develop a deeper friendship with God.
The key is to spend even more time with Him this year than previous years.
Invite Him into every part of your life—into your thoughts, conversations, and daily activities.
I started talking to God in the car, while I was cooking, and even while walking my two dogs.
It became natural, like having a conversation with the Best Friend you can always count on.
God isn’t just someone to only talk to on Sundays.
He wants to be part of every moment—every single day.
He’s your Lord and Savior, but He’s also your closest Friend, waiting to be involved even more in your life this year.
Let Him out of the box you may have been keeping Him in, and invite Him into every aspect of your life.
The more time you spend with Him, the closer you'll get to Him.
If this resonates with you, here's a short prayer you can say today:
"Dear God, I want to know You like a Best Friend, not just on Sundays, but every day. Help me make time for You in the middle of my life, whether I’m cooking, driving, or just thinking. I want to invite You into everything, to let You be part of every moment. Be my constant Companion, and remind me that You’re always with me, ready to listen, guide, and love me through it all. Amen."
God bless you!

TODAY'S QUESTIONS
1. How can Christians make time for God in our daily lives, especially when everything feels busy?
We all get busy, right? It feels like the days fly by, and before we know it, we’ve skipped our quiet time with God. But think of God as a friend you don’t want to lose touch with—just like we make time for our closest relationships, we have to do the same with God. Even five minutes in the morning or a short prayer in the car can keep us connected. The key is to prioritize Him in the midst of the chaos, even if it means rearranging our schedule a bit.
2. Why is it important for us to invite God into every moment, not just during our designated prayer time?
God doesn’t want to just be a part of our Sundays. He wants to be a part of everything we do. Inviting Him into every moment is like having a partner walk alongside us through life, not just when things are tough, but when we’re cooking dinner, walking the dog, or catching up with a friend. It’s about acknowledging that He’s with us in every single step, guiding us, protecting us, and providing wisdom for even the smallest decisions.
3. How can Believers develop a deeper, more personal relationship with God, just like we would with a close friend?
A close relationship with God doesn’t happen overnight, just like a friendship takes time to build. We develop this connection by spending quality time with Him—praying, listening, reading His Word, and talking to Him throughout the day. Think of it like any relationship: the more you invest, the deeper the connection becomes. When we’re consistent in seeking God, we begin to know His heart more, and He becomes more than just a distant figure. We experience Him as our closest Friend.
4. What changes can we make in our routine to treat God as an ongoing part of our lives, not just a Sunday experience?
Start small. Instead of compartmentalizing God to a Sunday service or a morning prayer time, weave Him into your daily routine. Talk to Him while you're getting ready, ask for His guidance as you face challenges at work, and thank Him as you go to bed. The more we include Him in the details of our lives, the more natural it becomes. It’s like having a best friend who’s just always there, no matter what you’re doing.
5. How do Christians recognize and experience God’s presence in the small, everyday tasks of life?
God’s presence isn’t confined to a church building or a quiet prayer closet. We can experience Him in the mundane—the joy of serving others, the peace He gives in the middle of a busy day, or even the love we feel from a kind word. Recognizing His presence is about tuning our hearts to see Him in the little things. It’s like looking for hidden treasure. You start noticing God’s touch everywhere when you start paying attention.
