Come Close To God and He Will Come Close To You

Come close to God and He will come close to you. - James 4:8
There is a price to draw close to God and the truth is, not everyone is willing to pay what it costs.
Not everyone is willing to take the necessary time or make the investments required to grow spiritually.
What is interesting is that God does not ask for all of our time to be spent in this area of life.
There are things He wants us to do outside of developing our spirits.
We all have bodies, souls (our minds, will, and emotions), and spirits.
God wants us to look after all of these areas in our lives.
Looking after and exercising our bodies and nurturing our souls takes dedicated time and effort.
Our emotions also need to be attended to as well.
Our minds need to be renewed every day and to grow in many ways.
Our spirits need to be fed and nurtured, which also requires attention.
In order to have a balanced life, we need to take time to look after our entire being.
And as we draw near to God, He will show and teach us what to do in each area of our lives.
Ultimately, I believe the simplest way to look at growing closer to God comes down to time with Him.
Many say that they don't have time to seek God.
That they are just too busy because life is complicated.
The truth is that we all take time to do what is most important to us.
Life is not always easy, and it is filled with a lot of things that fight for our attention, but we will make time for what is important to us.
Distractions are all around us, but if knowing and hearing from God is truly important, then we will make time for it.
Here's a good rule to follow: Don't try to work God around your schedule. Instead, work your schedule around God.
Drawing close to God takes time, so be patient.
Don't try to get results too quickly.
We are all at different places in our walks with God, and that's okay.
Consider seeking God first as the most valuable long-term investment that you could make.
Just like exercising physically, spiritual exercise needs to be done consistently.
Make a decision today to pay the price.
Decide to honor God with your genuine time and attention, and you will reap the blessings and benefits that come from drawing closer to Him every day.

Prayer To Spend More Time With God
Heavenly Father,
I come before You, and I long to spend more time with You, to draw closer to Your heart, and to know You intimately.
I confess that I may have allowed distractions to keep me from seeking You wholeheartedly.
I may have been consumed by other pursuits and neglected the precious time I should be spending in communion with You.
Forgive me for taking You for granted and not prioritizing my relationship with You as much as I could have.
Holy Spirit, I invite You to come and fill my life with Your presence.
Awaken within me a deep hunger and thirst for the Word.
Lord, help me to carve out moments in my day to sit at Your feet and listen to Your voice.
Give me the discipline and focus to set aside distractions and fix my eyes on You.
I surrender my schedule and commitments to You.
Show me where I need to make changes and rearrange my priorities.
Help me to let go of anything that hinders my time with You.
Let my heart be captivated by Your love, and may my desire for You grow stronger every day.
Thank You for the privilege of knowing You and spending time with You.
I am grateful for Your everlasting love and patience with me.
May my relationship with You deepen and flourish as I commit to giving You the time and attention You rightly deserve.

Father God,
I humbly desire a deeper connection with You.
I long to know You more, to experience Your presence in a way that transforms my heart and mind.
Please create in me a hunger and thirst for Your presence, that I may seek You with all my heart.
I surrender my will and my desires to You and ask that You guide me in growing closer to You.
Show me the areas where I have held back, and give me the courage to surrender fully to Your leading.
Lord, I ask for a greater revelation of Your love and grace.
Help me to understand the depth of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross, and let that knowledge spur me on to pursue You relentlessly.
Open my eyes to see Your fingerprints in every aspect of my life, and give me the faith to trust Your plans for me.
I pray for a renewed passion for prayer and worship.
Let my heart overflow with adoration and praise for You.
Teach me to listen for Your voice and to respond in obedience.
Help me to cultivate a heart of gratitude and to continually seek Your face.
I thank You for the privilege of growing in intimacy with You.
I know that as I draw near to You, You will draw near to me.
May my life be a reflection of Your love and grace, and may Your Spirit work in and through me for Your glory.
