What does God say about sisters?
In the Old Testament in the Book of Numbers, God blesses Jochebed, the mother of Moses and sister of Aaron, for her strong faith and loyalty. He honors her with a special blessing that ensures her offspring will be blessed with His protection. She is also praised for being a wise counsellor to her children.
The New Testament Book of Matthew also speaks highly of godly sisters. Jesus' teaching on loving one another begins with His own family - His brothers and sisters in the faith - while He says that any who does not welcome His siblings is no better than an unbeliever (Matthew 12:50). Jesus later reminds us in Luke 14:26 that if we cannot love those closest to us, we are not worthy to follow Him.
God also wants sisters to care for each other just as He cares for them. He tells them in Galatians 6:2 that they should “bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ”. This means that as Believers, sisters should look out for one another and help encourage each other with their walk with Christ.
Daily effective prayer is another way God desires that they show love and support to each other in faith.
