What does God say about mothers?

The Bible contains plenty of blessed scriptures that emphasize God's abundant love for mothers. In the book of Proverbs, He speaks highly of a mother's strength and devotion, stating, “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all” (Proverbs 31:28-29).

He also encourages us to emulate our mother's godly example. In the Book of 1 Timothy Paul admonishes readers to "Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it" (1 Tim. 3:7). This implies that He blesses us with mothers to raise us up in godly ways so that we can appreciate Him even more.

God is continuously offering His grace upon mothers no matter what circumstance they are in. In Psalms 113:9 He proclaims, "He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children". We know the Lord through His Word is providing mothers with an eternal bond and love between their children and themselves just as Jesus had for his own mother Mary.

In 2 Kings 4:26-27 He provides sustenance for the widow whose debt was paid off by Elisha. Here God blesses this mother with food for herself and her son who would have otherwise starved due to lack of resources or income.

Romans 12:4-5 tells us, “just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others". Through this passage we can see how the Lord emphasizes our interconnectedness as humans - especially within families - while providing moms with comfort knowing they are loved by Him in the good and bad times.
